About Therapy and Life Coaching
Individual Therapy
Individual Therapy is tailored to the person seeking therapy and customized to treat your specific issues. Sessions may include the following approaches:
Psychodynamic Psychotherapy: Psychodynamic therapy is an approach that involves facilitating a deeper understanding of one's emotions and other mental processes. It works to help you gain greater insight into how you feel and think. By improving this understanding, you can then make better choices about your life.
Humanistic Existential Therapy: Existential-humanistic psychotherapy helps you discover your own uniqueness through acquiring a greater awareness of yourself and the world around you. It adopts a holistic approach that focuses on free will, human potential, and self-discovery, and it aims to help you develop a strong and healthy sense of self, explore your feelings, find meaning, and focus on your strengths.
Somatic Therapy: Somatic therapy incorporates the mind, body, and spirit into therapeutic healing work. Somatic therapy aims to treat the effects of PTSD and other mental and emotional health issues through the connection of mind and body and uses a body-centric approach to address and process trauma.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy: Cognitive behavioral therapy is a treatment that focuses on changing the automatic negative thoughts that can contribute to and worsen emotional difficulties, depression, and anxiety. It helps you change destructive thought patterns and core beliefs.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy: The term "dialectical" comes from the idea that bringing together two opposites in therapy -- acceptance and change -- brings better results than either one alone. DBT interventions focus on acceptance of your experience as well as learning the skills needed to change negative behaviors.
EMDR: Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing is a form of psychotherapy developed by Francine Shapiro in the 1980s. In EMDR, you are guided to recall distressing and traumatic experiences while doing bilateral stimulation, such as side-to-side eye movement or tapping.
Brainspotting: Brainspotting therapy is a type of therapy that uses spots in your visual field to help you process trauma. It accesses trauma trapped in the subcortical brain, the area of the brain responsible for motion, consciousness, emotions, and learning.
Hypnotherapy: Hypnotherapy is used to create a state of focused attention and increased suggestibility in the treatment of a psychological disorder or concern. It helps to create positive change while being in a relaxed subconscious state.
